Wow, a deep, satisfying Pinot for $17! This is from Schweigen, right on the border between Pfalz and Alsace, and in fact some of their vines are on the French side. Smells of cinnamon and Smith Bros cough drops, tastes of black cherries and a little stemmy/woodsy. There is a substantial midpalate, which is the component that usually falls flat in cheaper American Pinots. Becker's top Spatburgunders are very expensive in the US, but if their entry level Gutswein is this good, I'm curious to try them. Had a similarly positive experience last year with the entry level Dautel Spatburgunder from Wurttemberg. German Pinot is hard to find here, but worth the search!

Honestly one of the best low cost spatburgunders out there. Hints of Jouan on the nose.
Take this over some 100 dollar CA cola chocolate bomb anyday everyday. Really about as good as it gets if quality producer burg is your thing.
Has something that OR just can’t touch, that effortless concentration and beautiful finesse. Nothing out of balance, everything just coming out more and more with air showing the quality and deliciousness.

88 is a fair rating. This wine those however punch way above its pricetag.
