I am always amazed to drink a 17 year old wine. This cru bourgeois is very good with green pepper aroma and plum taste with supple tannin. Amazing for a cru bourgeois of that age. JC

On opening, cool, was poopy… in dog-vein. Grippy, disjointed. Old purple-blackcurrant and some milk chocolate. Darkly coloured, but a mess, which I think is past it. Bord-decanted 2.5 hours, because I’ve found 2+ hours sometimes clears this particular farmyard character. It did. However, now the nose is fuzzy, and distinctly jammy. On palate the jam runs, in watery fashion, into rooty old Merlot. Still sour. An artificially-generated Bordeaux (if admittedly from a poor vintage), which is now well too old for its style. 81 to 82, 81.

Good tannin and acid with fading fruit center. Still hanging in, but I would drink this one soon.

Poured from a 375ml, more plummy taste versus the one I opened couple of weeks ago. Sharp tannins..the wine is running downhill. Drink up.
