Mooie belegen Volnay. Werd alsmaar beter, zeker na drie uur open te hebben gestaan. Mooi fruit en tertiaire tonen. Volle ronde smaak met mooie afdronk.

Decanted 1/2 an hour. Pale/medium garnet core, medium pale garnet, slightly orangeing rim. Elegant, gentle strawberry fruited nose, floral and chalky minerals, some sous-bois. Attractive and evocative of place. Medium bodied on the palate, a little on the lean side with spicy strawberry fruit, some damsons, crisply acidic on the medium/good length, still slightly tight finish. Lovely nose and interesting if not hugely engaging on the palate, at least at this point - it may open out and soften with time.

A replacement for the corked bottle we opened a week ago. Decanted for about 2 hours. Color is a nice transparent crimson with very slight fading at the rim. The nose shows earth, spice and cherry. Excellent balance on the palate with clean dark berry fruits and a very smooth texture. The wine has no abrasive edges to it at all finishes with good length.

(Potel Nicolas Volnay Mitans) Medium-plus ruby-red with a cherry-red rim. The nose, despite starting in an understated way, still shows commendable depth and width. The fruit is red and black, quite dense but without any roast notes - slowly gives-up a more intense red-berry note. The palate is quite fresh, with really impressive intensity and length. The acidity is great and the tannins show quite a lot of grain. Very good length indeed. There's a great future for this ebullient wine.

Weak colour; earthy, iron filings; a little grouchy, leans towards Pommard, good depth & staying power. Drink up.
