Opened this wine with some trepidation as it is now 19 years old. We aerated it and decanted, and were delighted that not only was it not vinegar, it was really spectacular. Complex with a dark harmony of fruit. 2 more 2001 bottles in the cellar - looking forward to drinking them (!) The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are fast. There is heavy sediment in the bottle. It smells like fig and prune. It tastes like fig, prune and mineral. The body is medium/full. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity.

Tasted 3/21 against White Oak. Very nice wine with good color and alcohol, while still very smooth. Good to drink now, but will age well for a few years. Old vine character, very complex with earth and coffee along with pepper and sage.

Pulled these from my Eurocave expecting the worst, but this was exceptional even after 12 years.

Incredibly well structured, still holding up at the 8 year mark. A bit one-dimensional, but still very nice
