My second bottle, but the first since June of 2019. Even if this is now within its drinking window, I think that it (L 75/18) is far from its peak, so I would wait another few years if you have more in the cellar. Although I like and respect Walter Speller at Jancis Robinson, his drinking window of '18-24 for this wine is all wrong, and a great example of where I believe that Antonio Galloni ('22-36) at Vinous has a much better handle on the wine. I expect its complexity to emerge in another 3-4 years. Consumed over three nights, on night one it was decanted for one hour before serving, the bottle was refrigerated without gas or vacu-vin, to allow for aeration, and served on nights two and three without decanting. This is not a flamboyant wine, but a big, understated, serious, savory, rich and satisfying one that delivers great aromatics and a medium++ body, firm acidity, beautiful Sangiovese flavors, a lovely bitter cherry finish, with biggish but integrating tannins, all in a perfect 13.5% package. Excellent QPR. Drink 2022-2036.

Healthy garnet purple. Engaging nose of cherry fruit, leather hints, wood smoke, airy floral notes, saline. Layers of deep blue plum, round cherry, sweet earth, leather, and holiday spice on the velvety palate. Lovely acidity and firm but softened tannin. Longer finish of cinnamon red fruit, tobacco, and warm soil. Continues to be a very delicious drink.

Medium garnet. Nose of cherry pits, floral notes, earth. Layers of dried cherry, cinnamon, hints of leather, and holiday spice on the satin textured palate. Nice acidity and filed off tannin. Longer finish of red fruit, warm earth, and spice. Very nice.

the 2016 is in a perfect place. Crushed plums add depth as cedar shavings, mentholated herbs and hints of red licorice inform it dazzling bouquet. Its silky, verging on opulent, yet not quite, with zesty acidity that adds an energetic feel, and vivid ripe raspberry fruits. The 2016 goes down far too easy and leaves the palate presently dry as inner violet and rose florals taper off over hints of black currant. To be honest, I opened this to simply have a red at the table while I enjoyed a top-level Champagne, and the 2016 Chianti Classico STOLE THE SHOW!!!

This is in a lovely place right now. Nose of cherries, cigar box, and leather; beautiful red fruits on the palate. Medium finish. Popped and poured - this didn't seem to need much air at all. Drink up!
