  • The only good thing to say about this is that it wasn't as bad as the other 2. Thin and weedy. I'm sure this is what wine tasted like from the local offy back in '95. The main difference was it would of cost £1.99 not the best part of £20. Got better when chilled but had a pretty low bar to start from.

  • Inky dark crimson color with clarity at the rim.

Day 1 - Intense and layered nose, almost like ripe cab franc wihout greenness (think Baudry) - blackberry and black raspberry, violet, pencil lead, black pepper, and cedar bark. Inky mouth - jammy/muddy texture, ripe grainy tannin, robust acidity - totally bold, but there is some cleanness/clearness to it. Medium++ finish that fades quietly (but maintains intensity until it starts fading). Overall, almost like natural French sud-west (cab franc / merlot / malbec) or extra-ripe blaufrankish. Tastes really expensive and sophisticated, a pleasant surprise as I had no prior idea about how does the variety/region/producer taste like.

Day 2 - calming down - reminds of young and tight crus Beaujolais (Brouilly) - dark violet, plum, and mulberry.
