Amici's 2021 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay was 100% barrel-fermented, allowed to undergo full malolactic conversion and aged for 11 months in French oak (30% new). Popped, poured and serially tasted over a two-hour period, it is a limpid, light golden wine delivering aromas and flavors of citrus, stone fruits, ginger and graham cracker spice. Freshly acidic and with well-integrated alcohol (listed as 13.8%), it weaves its oak seamlessly into the medium-bodied palate and stays solid in the middle. Long and crisp on the back end, this is a well-balanced California Chardonnay that should show well over the next five years. Even at this early stage, it requires very little aeration in order to fully strut its stuff. Drink now-2028.

Pedestrian is how I would describe this wine. Not exciting, a bit too sweet, a bit oaky. Little depth. Disappointing.

A crowd pleaser, enjoyed by wife and kids. A touch sweet, but overall balanced with crisp apple and ripe pear/pineapple overtones. Will buy more.
