(RICARD Le Bouc ( Le Bouc)) UPDATE: Where’s Jon A new “Where’s Jon” photo is up...not so easy this time: http://www.garagistewine.com/explore For the winner and correct answer to the last puzzle, look here: http://bit.ly/9lQp1W Thanks for playing – several people guessed the correct answer last time but only one person was first! Wonder where I'm going next...if you can figure it out, a delightful prize awaits... - Jon Rimmerman ******************* Bouc Dear Friends, This is one of those occasions where something is in the water – we’ve received a bizarre number of requests for this wine over the last week and I'm not even sure how most of you know about it? Was it reviewed somewhere? Regardless, we were going or offer it around Thanksgiving but there’s been a run on it at the winery and we need to satisfy the requests today. With that... Vincent Ricard is a lucky fellow. He owns fabulous vineyard material in not so desirable locations (i.e., less expensive but still top drawer) and all of them have the capacity to produce bargain gems of a very high order. Near Montrichard and just up from the Cher (in a somewhat undiscovered corner of Touraine), he produces this wonderful limited run Sauvignon Blanc from his personal favorite stash of vines. Like so many other 2009 success stories, this wine combines the best of both worlds – impact and fruit depth with a downright dignified blanket of pure rock and minerality at its core. Unlike my 2009 whipping boy of late (Sancerre), Ricard’s little pocket of France had no issues except what he describes as “the greatest harvest of my life”. For , I believe you will wholeheartedly agree and (as an added bonus) the Le Bouc should last quite well into 2012+ This wine was not intended for export but (as noted above) someone has either reviewed it or secured a parcel that has caused a rush to order (it’s not even listed on his web site as the production is too low). If you are a fan of schist-inspired white wine and would rather part with instead of $20-25+ for other more “important” vineyards that were not nearly as successful in 2009, here’s your wine...it’s also a wonderful way to start the meal or as a match to refined white meat dishes (especially quickly seared fish or scallops with shallots and snap peas). VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED as a cellar-door only example that Ricard has made available to his loyal consumers – you. ONE SHIPMENT ONLY with perfect provenance directly from the winery cellar: 2009 Vincent Ricard “Le Bouc” (Sauvignon Blanc/Loire) - (I'm not sure there is a comparable on this but our tariff should be quite low, about the same as the cellar door) FIRST COME FIRST SERVED at this price up to 24/person until we run out. To order: niki@garagistewine.com This parcel is set to depart the cave – it will arrive in early November (please check OARS for local pick up after November 15th – locals should be able to pick it up just in time for Thanksgiving). It may ship during the Fall shipping season if weather cooperates (late) but will also be just about perfect come next summer. Out of state orders will be held for free under ideal storage conditions (56 degrees/70%humidity) until shipping is possible. Locals may pick up at their leisure. For current local pick up and arrival/ship information, please see your OARS link below (at the bottom of this offer) - don’t know how to access your OARS? Simply click the link and see your account.
