Served at room temperature (13.5% abv) with Bolognese sauce & Penne pasta. Not much to add to Bravodeltacharlie who has a good take on this wine. Carménère, imported from France for their fledgling wine industry (they thought they were getting Merlot cuttings) thrives in the Chilean environment; some consider it their national grape. This is a good representation of the varietal and a 'go to' inexpensive wine found at Trader Joes.

Deep translucent purplish-ruby. Pleasantly pungent aromas that show ripe berries, but also a little of the green bell pepper characteristic of Chilean reds. Ripe and round, with surprising extraction and tannic grip at such a low price. Also good consistency across several bottles.

Served at room temperature (13.5% abv) with Salad and Stromboli. Deep ruby red in the glass, Red fruit on the nose and palate, medium-bodied. Hearty enough to match the entree, but tannins seem somewhat harsh. An inexpensive red for serving with food or just casual sipping.
