Interesting cocoa and faint coffee nose. Berry fruit prominent with hints of blueberry. Nice tea like tannins and citrus acidity. Citrus finish. Hints of leather and oak also appear as it opens.

Dark, almost fully opaque black cherry red color. The nose feels juicy and quite pure with lively aromas of blackberries, marmaladey dark fruits, some inky character and a lifted hint of sweet VA. The wine is full-bodied, pretty concentrated and juicy on the palate with ripe yet very vibrant and lively flavors of fresh dark berries, some sweet blackcurrants, a little bit of plummy fruit and a touch of herbal spice. The structure relies more on the moderately high acidity than on the quite light, mellow and smoothly textured tannins. The finish is ripe, long and somewhat spicy with rich flavors of plummy dark fruits, chokeberry jam, some fresh dark berries, a little bit of brambly black raspberry and a touch of savory spices.
A surprisingly stylish and balanced Argentinian Malbec that doesn't suffer from the typical pitfalls of its peers, i.e. excessive ripeness and overwhelming oak character. The wine is certainly ripe, but not overtly so, and the emphasis here is very much on the purity of fruit and good balance between the body and the acidity. Overall the wine isn't particularly complex or that distinctive in style, but still a positive surprise in its style.
