Transparent, slightly cloudy light ruby red. In the nose, this is very slightly funky, but super bright and clean. Wood strawberry, white peach, crushed rock, some bacon, very interesting mix. In the mouth, this is light, clean, precise, there are no perceptible tannins, it's quite elegant, light red fruit, fresh acidity, good structure despite this wine being really, really light. For me, a role model German pinot noir in the lower to medium price range.

Great cool expression of what German wine producers can do with Pinot Noir. Red fruity aromas, subtle silky texture with fresh tastes of fruit and good minerality. Taste stays long

A private dinner (Restaurant Lorenz Adlon Esszimmer **, Berlin, Germany): A lovely symphony of ripe Pinot Noir fruit and refreshing acidity and minerality; reminds me of the Beaune Premier Cru Maurice Drouhin 2008 from the Hospices but in a more energetic and tight style; silky texture, strawberry and rosehip, linear, cool and elegant, actually comes quite close to a good Volnay; very good length. Has a freshness and finesse that is still quite rare in German Spätburgunder.
