  • Day 1 - medicinal/volatile nose - dusty lingonberry with a touch of dried cranberry, star anise, a lot of rusted iron, sawdust, black pepper, and vinegar - almost bloody. Mouth is dominated by piercingly high acidity, with medium level of dusty tannin. Overall like a mixture of extremely acidic natural Savoie Mondeuse and reductive natural barbera. Serious and concentrated, but difficult to enjoy at this moment… (music analogy for classical music geeks - like poor sound quality Mravinsky recordings). 86.

Day2-3 - no improvement. Got vinegary further, like salad dressing with a touch of soy sauce. 84-85.

Day 11 (untouched since day3) - gained velvety texture of tannin and waxy sweet fruit of soft dried prune, which balances vinegariness to some extent. 85-87 (wide range).

Maybe better to drink 10 years later. Per google, 2014 vintage was made of 50% Petite Rouge, 40% Gros Vein, 10% Dolcetto.

  • P&p; good right from the bottle and gets better and better with air. Wild, pungent aromas of flowers (sort of violet and rose), ripe cherry-strawberry (more or less), earth, vinegar (in a good way), with a nice streak of savory smokiness. Similar flavors, fairly assertively vinegary but it really works, seeming to lift and propel everything. Sour cherry, good tart acidity, fairly moderate but present tannins. Characterful, interesting, fun wine, and just plain tasty.
