This wine is a very deep ruby, almost inky, color all the way to the edge. Thought maybe it was the result of some pet, but not in this blend. Smell dark berry fruits, vanilla and oak. Taste is consistent throughout, and smooth. There's dark cherries, some strawberries and some of the oakiness, but it does not overpower. Good balance. Light to moderate tannins. Drank each glass after aerating. Nice right out of the bottle. Did open up some more with each glass, however, I really question whether this wine will evolve more over time. Classic claret, indeed, pretty good for a claret.
This wine is all about your preferences. This is a Napa claret with ample fruit and mellow tannins if given enough air. A bit tight when opened, it deepens and opens with a couple hours in the decanter. Very pleasant to drink. Not complex nor is the finish that long. Quality but not outstanding in my opinion.
