Intense and penetrating, flinty and minerally, with good citric cut, subtle oak and an overall elegance and balance which surprised me from even this great maker. I'm really enjoying their 2010 whites.
I reluctantly bought these, given their price, but this wine shows how good Rully can be. Typical (Domaines) Leflaive excellence (ignoring 2006/7); very impressive.

Chambolles and others at Mike and Cathy's: A gorgeous nose of citrus, mixed spices, pear, limestone and some oyster shell. In the mouth, a lovely, youthful but quite approachable wine with relatively detailed flavours of pears, spices, blanched almonds, minerals and citrus. It paired beautifully with the Tarakihi with the skin on. It had good concentration and sufficient acids. The consensus was that the wine was not perhaps a cellar wine, but who cares, it's gorgeous and interesting now.

Domaine Leflaive Masterclass with James Handford MW (Handford Wines, London): Quite a nice surprise as this is an energetic Rully, well made of course and with a lot of structure. The nose points to ripe fruit, light oak touches (sees no new oak). On the palate it felt quite ready, but definitely had the stuffing to go quite a few more years. Forget anything u expect from a fatty, flabby Rully, this is a properly good wine. Unfortunately the price also reflects that too! 91 and drinks very nicely now.

Has some smoky mineral action on the nose along with white peach and tangerine fruits. It is bright and energetic in the mouth, crammed with orchard fruits and possessing a nice mineral spine. It finishes with a green apple crunch.

Fris, intens og elegant. En anelse smør og nøtter. God lengde. Veldig god hvit burgund til 365 kr. Kjøpt i 2013.
