Not quite as amazing as I had hoped it would be. Yet I maybe wasn't quite in the best of places to think about where it was going. Luckily, I have some left. We shall see where it goes.

Funky nose, extremely vegetal with a hint of corkiness - Grandma's canning green beans in the basement again. Palate shows spice without nearly as much funk as nose. A little dark fruit, good acidity, low tannins. Richard says this would be a great food wine with a roasted pork tenderloin with pan sauce.

Interestingly enough I think every CT entry under "Heinrich St. Laurent" is refering to this wine. Dark blue and black fruits with delicious spice character. Juicy on the palate with a long lasting and clear mineral tang. Great wine at $28.

Deep purple. Youthful. Initially an intense, funky nose. Faded fairly quickly. Yummy and intense vegetal notes (in a good good way). Linear and precise. Mild tannins, bright swirling acidity. Nice dry slightly bitter finish (arugala?). Green notes on the palate (v. good). Fatter, plummier mid palate than I expected. Damn fine. Getting into these Austrians.

Meaty, barrel, northern rhone notes on the wine. Very tasty, lively stuff. Smokey, barnyard, all there.
