Notes from last tasting carryover. Nice wine—this time with lamb loin chops, lentils, and Brussels sprouts. May have softened a bit, but still robust enough to meet the challenge of the meal.

Decanted for 2+ hours, drank with a Cap Steak, duck fat potatoes, and braised spinach. Rich, deep color; nose is dark fruit, tea, with a touch of eucalyptus. It’s full bodied, nicely balanced—not too much of anything, with a long finish. Exceptional with our meal. Still has plenty of time, but doubt it will improve much.

Really like this wine. Love the flavor profile of Calistoga fruit. Happy I got this in the mid 30s - definitely overdelivers at this price point. (It is, technically, a "reserve") Have another I will let sit another year or so to see how it continues to develop.

Dark purple color and good nose. On the palate dark berry fruit, blue and blackberry fruit and dark currants, good flavor. The appearance in the glass suggest that this wine is full-bodied but it’s not as prodigious as it looks. A good wine and a fair price at $40, not at $80 in my opinion and it show better with air. I agree with LPB on this wine, 91 Points.

Needs a bit of air to open up but drank very well after an hour and a half in decanter.
