From the Greffieux vineyard, a small scale production with 6-800 btls a year. Vines from the 50’s and 70’s as I understand, brought up in old foudres, as are the reds. Bottle #1 of 16. On day 1 it’s completely unapprochable from all sides. Just foursquare with a really intense bitterness. On day 2 it has opened up, and it’s now more reminiscent of earlier vintages. Beeswax, a tropical element like papaya, stony minerals, mint and lemonzest, and even some orangepeel. Even on day 2 it needs all the air it can get. It’ s going to be a lovely wine in a few years, and maybe outshine even ‘18, but in contrast to 2018, this really needs a little more time for now, at least this bottle did. (91-93 right now, but this could improve more than a few points).

An intense mineral wine with a strong floral, jasmine and leatherwood component, background hints of beeswax, incredibly long. The remainder of the bottle 24 hours later more subtle, tropical hints of passionfruit. Based on what I’ve read will wait several years before bottle number two but this is accessible and actually quite a “wow” wine now.
