A wine that is somewhat unusual for two reasons, the first that it is grown in Kangaroo Island, the second is the variety. Cabernet Franc is a very interesting varietal that is seldom bottled by itself in Australia.
If all examples of Cabernet Franc in Australia were this good there would be more examples of the variety.
The wine has an attractive dark red hue in the glass, the nose gives dusty tobacco and sweeter blackcurrant and blackberry aromas.
Cabernet franc can sometimes be angular and hollow, however the islander release has an excellent mouth feel with black fruits and a briney olive character fully integrated with supple tannins and rounded oak.
The length is superb with earthy, peppery black fruits. Review Link - www.winereviewer.com.au (drink from 2013-2024)

Lurton Tasting; 12/10/2012-12/11/2012 (London): Ripe fruit with lovely leafy Cab Franc. Approachable tannin, nicely integrated with full mouthfeel. Dark fruit and long finish.
