Whew. Quite a ride. Opened while my soon-to-be wife and I were constructing our wedding cake at 10PM the night before the ceremony with parents and future in laws voraciously stuffing flowers into vases. Everyone stopped in the middle of their duties to roll their eyes back into their heads in delight. I did it on several occasions. Don't worry, the cake turned out fine.
Annual Christmas Wine Dinner and Cellar Raid (Naperville, IL): Didn't take detailed notes. Part of Christmas wine dinner and cellar raid. As close to perfect as a wine could get. This was so elegant compared to so many of the powerhouse wines that come out of the Central Coast. I have had a few SQN's and by far this one lives up to the hype.
Aerated with a Vinturi and decanted for 1.5 hours. Nose of raspberry, blackberry, chocolate, cedar, spice and wet cardboard. Tainted on the palate as well. Dang! Manfred's corks should be sacred. I am so bummed...

(Sine Qua Non Grenache Raven Series) Dark red violet color; roasted black fruit, hickory smoke nose; intense, roasted black fruit, tar, smoke, incipient bacon fat, light pepper palate; medium-plus finish 93+ points (92% Grenache, 8% Syrah; 16.3% alcohol; tastes more like a big Syrah at this stage than a Grenache)
