  • I have to say this was one of the better Gewurz I’ve had in my lifetime. Up there with some ZH VT. Beth Sheligo and Harry Cantrell organized a Zoom Gewurz tasting tonight which was a lot of fun. Although we just drove back from the beach and we were tired and I can never hear on Zoom. So I just wanted a little wine and this small bottle worked wonders. A beautiful burnished gold color and a very floral nose. Toasted caramel on top of lychee and orange if you can imagine on the palate. Acidity was fresh and alive and cut thru the spiciness of the Biryani and Butter Chicken we had with. A long finish with pleasant notes of tropical fruit. Quite lovely and I have another bottle

  • Sourced from Brown Derby and consumed for dessert with cannoli, baklava and blue cheese, this wine was delicious. Very sweet, of course, but vibrant acidity keeps it sharp. And very long. All the usual gewurz suspects are in place -- lychee and mango, in particular -- but on steroids. Maybe this provides a perspective: Earlier with our filet mignon a friend and I indulged in a 2004 Sassicaia and a 1997 Harlan, which were both great in their own ways, and the dessert wine was easily my WOTN. A steal for the price. My main criticism is that apparently it is only made in a 375 ml format!

  • Some evolution since last time (2 years ago):
    Lychee is less dominant now.
Vanilla, caramel (tart tatin), almond, and rose water.
    Sugar 160 g/l. A dessert in itself.

  • Very rich of course (160 g/l). Lychee, honey and perhaps a hint of peach, almonds, and vanilla. Remarkable purity and precision. Fantastic now; can be kept.
Drank on its own, though I have a feeling this will go well with panna cotta or with pear or nectarine tart.
PS, it's sealed with a bit of wax on the top of the cork under the capsule. This give rise to a somewhat sticky feeling when rotating the capsule around the top of the bottle (I was worried for a moment before removing the capsule because you get a similar sticky feeling with seepage of wines with high sugar levels; cork and contents of the bottle were in top shape; happy end).

  • Huge lychee nose. Sweet and full flavour.
