  • Prior bottle was only three months ago and while normally, I would spread the bottles a bit further apart, it showed so well and so consistently, there only appeared to be downside in waiting. My notes tonight confirmed that impression.

Red cherry, earth and floral notes on the nose. Medium bodied with red cherry notes upfront demonstrating just a touch of youthful brightness to go along with the rounded, openness. Mid-body continues to show elegance in its black cherry and red berry qualities. These are neatly balanced with tart red cherry, acidity and integrated tannins on the backside. Finishes with mineral and earth notes and lingering tartness from the acidity. The longer this wine was open, the better the balance became which leads me to believe it still has another couple of years left on this level. Glad my last bottle could go out on this high note.

  • Prior bottle was only two months ago, but based on that showing, there was no reason to wait and my notes were consistent. Intensely floral along with earth, red cherry notes on the nose. Medium bodied with red cherry upfront and red cherry mixed with black cherry through the middle. Like the prior bottle, demonstrated very good mid-body depth as well as the elegance that marks so many of these Antica Terra pinots. Mixture of earth, fine grained tannins and tart red cherry on the back provided good support. Overall balance remains a highpoint. The earthy qualities, bright red cherry, darker cherry and tannins + acidity all worked very well together tonight. As this is clearly peak, I will probably open my last bottle later this year.

  • Dry red cherry, red berries and earthy notes on the nose. Came off as combination of brighter bing cherries and more tart cherries. Medium bodied (13.6% ABV) with a combination of black and red cherries along with red berries. Mid-body was beautiful, showing roundness, depth and an overall elegant silkiness. Some darker blackfruit notes behind and towards the back combined with integrated tannins and acidity provide structure and contrast. Light spice notes, earth and mineral qualities on the finish. Highpoints were (i) the overall integration, (ii) depth through the middle and (iii) general elegance and harmony. Should continue to drink well over the next few years (this is peak) and I'll open my next bottle possibly as soon as July 2020.

  • Lush red fruit with slightly sweet baking spice. Very good density throughout, this starts out ripe but ends with a bright edge and enough acidity that keeps it amazingly fresh for its age. 91 points tonight, with possible 92 point potential. This bottle was so much better than another a year ago.

  • Ripe blue, black and red berries with floral notes and lots of spice. Still a bit of pronounced new oak. Aromatically charming, then slightly less complete or composed on palate, even if still nicely fun. Very good now.
