This wine has a fruity nose showing ripe black fruit, but the alcohol is noticeable as does a bit of herbaceousnes giving this wine a bit of green stalkiness. On the palate the acid is still showing strong, which is not a surprise for a 14.2% ABV Cab from Paso. Lots of developing stewed black cherry, bramble fruit, cassis, plum and some cocoa. The green stalkiness shows up again with the alcohol also making it a bit astringent. I really wanted to like this wine more than I am. Overall, I think I may have let this bottle age for too long. If you have this bottle in your collection I recommend drinking ASAP.

Probably reached its summit. One of the early, not-so-impressive bottlings from the Daou brothers but completely serviceable for a midweek tenderloin. Plush, but I feel like I want more tannins and grip in reserve. If I were scoring, probably 86-87 but I'm also fighting a bit of sinus congestion so I'll refrain. I do know that this is not doing as well as my bottles a year or two ago.

Tasted over three nights open. Best on the second night after the alcohol eased off the throttle and had some time to integrate. Still pitch dark color and very minor sediment. Showing a little better than a year ago and probably close to the summit in its life. Fair and solid representation of what Paso can do by showing boldness and elegance. 5+11+16+8= 90
