Black cherry, floral and vanilla notes on the nose. Right around medium bodied (14.2% ABV) and possibly more fruit forward in its youth, but has evolved nicely. A bit closed at first, but came together around the two hour mark and continued to improve from there.
Blackfruit upfront, primarily black cherry now with black raspberry behind. Hints of intermixed red cherry add to the complexity. Tart wildberry and cranberry behind contribute brightness and contrast. Well balanced acidity provides backbone, contrast and length into and through the strongly mineral finish. Tannic structure on the finish, but very fine grained and integrated and overall, a real plus.
Highlights of this wine were its complexity, polish and elegance. Should continue to improve over the 12-18 months and if drinking now, give it two hours and be aware that it threw a good amount of sediment.
