  • Opened bottle last night. Initial taste was quite earthy and heavy tannins. Let sit for two hours and tried again. Much more to my liking.
Tannins mellowed and fruit started to come out. Chocolate, cherry and red / purple fruit. Medium to long flavor in mouth. Not bad. Good gift or party wine.

  • Looking at the tasting notes, it appears that no one else still has a bottle of this. Opened this last night, and it was very tight and tannic at first. Alot of ripe, dark, fruit, but the tannins were gripping making it difficult to figure what else was going on. After about 30 minutes, the tannins rounded a bit and this was a great bottle of wine. Terrific nose and wonderful ripe, purple fruits going on. It seems unfortunate to me that no one else has held onto this to let it develop more. It is really coming into its prime right now. Vinuvaced the 2nd half of the bottle and will retest tonight.

  • Seemed a bit "rustic" at first, but actually got better after being open a day or so. Lots going on.

  • Deep clear garnet with gorgeous long legs. Hot on the nose and a bit oaky, but with some darker tobacco and spice notes too, as well as a little violet and cassis below.

Jammy fruit hits first - blackberry and currant, brambly - with mouth-puckery acidity and tannins following just behind. Pleasantly astringent, with a little bitter-smoky tobacco on the midpalate. Finish is hot, but long and peppery.

It seems like it would benefit from decanting, but instead it becomes markedly more bitter, and eating food with it makes it undrinkable. :\
