good showing of the base house style at a good point in its development. I always feel these age better than people give them credit for and this bottle reinforced that opinion. Nothing spectacular, but a good showing from a good producer without being a hint of being tired.

For all the Carlisle fans out there, here is a great example of patience rewarded. I had four bottles and drank one in 2004, one in 2005, one in 2006, and yes, I hardly made it, but this bottle, the first of 2007--the trajectory is clear--this wine just keeps getting better and better. Now this is not your ordinary Carlisle fruit bomb, as Mike admits, but for purity of fruit and fineness of mouthfeel this red berry and cherry claret-style Zin is pure silk. I do taste his note of Pomegranate, as well. Last of its line and ultimately rewarding.
