Nice correct Chablis with pear and citrus a minerality. Perfect for adding to and complementing cheese fondue using Christmas leftovers. Light bodied with good tension. Straight forward without too much complexity. I would expect stainless steel tank fermentation as there is no sign of oak. Hard to beat for the price under $30.

Still drinking well, but no need to hold any longer. Tepid nose on the PnP but a solid flavor profile. Good fruit, peach blossom, low acidity so it presented a little fat in the mid-palate. Enough structure to hold a moderate finish. Delicate but interesting.

I like this, but it's time to drink up any remaining. Nose initially was covered by wet paper & gasoline tones, giving away its age. This blew off to show some wet rock, apple sauce, and bruised pear notes. It's more lively on the palate, showing mineral tones along with soft white fruits. Touch of curd in the midpalate is interesting, leading to a medium finish with just-ample acid.

(VIEILLES VIGNES Fourchaume VRIGNAUD) Vrignaud Dear Friends, We’ve had a large number of inquiries over the weekend about Vrignaud Chablis from 2008 - all were very well-received by Burghound in the new issue (out a few days ago) and it appears many of you were waiting for this set of reviews to take the plunge. The good news is that the 2008 Fourchaume and Fourchaume Vieilles Vignes scored at the top of their range and the winery has agreed to hold a small amount of cellar stock for us to offer today (the previous parcels are already on their way to us). I will stress again – the 2008 Vieilles Vignes is what white Burgundy strives so hard to become but so rarely is – a tensile reflection of site-place and vintage (from a prized parcel of old-vines) that does not seek to exclude the consumer due to pricing, rather the opposite. At , I don’t think you will find many arguments that this wine holds a place among the most enticing (and rarest) bargains in all of Chablis (and of Burgundy proper for that matter). It is interesting to note that Burghound actually increased his drinking window (from 2012+ to 2014+) and he removed any language about wood use as there is none: (also listed as “Outstanding” on the web site) If you have any interest in this wine, please let us know at your earliest convenience. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED as a top-tier “value” in a world of expensive white Burgundy: 2008 Domaine Vrignaud Chablis "Fourchaume Vieilles Vignes" 1er - (as noted below in the original offer, compare at $45-48+) Please give us your maximum number up to 24/person and we will allocate accordingly To order: niki@garagistewine.com This parcel is set to depart directly from the winery cellar – it will arrive in late November (please check OARS for local pick up after Dec 1st). It will ship during the Spring shipping season. - Jon Rimmerman Click here to view the status of your orders in O.A.R.S. *********************** (Original offer from a week ago) Vieilles Vignes 1er Dear Friends, Here’s another gift from Domaine Vrignaud – a fantastic deal on old-vine Chablis that puts into perspective how out of whack world-wide Chardonnay prices have become. Pick you favorite region but, if Vrignaud can offer this top-end limited production example for less than (from their very best/oldest plot of 1er) it makes you question the semblance of reason that encourages market activity at 3-4 times the price? I understand that terra firma in the Cote d’Or and elsewhere is expensive and often miniscule (with requisite supply/demand ratios) but I’ll take this slice of terroir any day of the week for . VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED – VERY HARD TO FIND ONE SHIPMENT ONLY at this price directly from the winery cellar with perfect provenance: 2008 Domaine Vrignaud Chablis "Fourchaume Vieilles Vignes" 1er – SOLD OUT (this wine is typically priced between a Chablis 1er and a grand cru, it is not the regular Fourchaume 1er; compare at $45-48+, the regular Fourchaume 1er is usually around $35)
