No a lot to add to 12/2/11 note. Bright dark ruby. Opulent nose of leather, cherry, menthol, dust, and vanilla. Ripe palate of tart cherry, strawberry, earth, and licorice. Excellent length. Lively acidity. Typical Piemontese minerality. Grippy young tannins. I need to keep my hands off these for another 3+ years.

WCC Domenico Selections Tasting with Jeff Mazen (The Chef's Table at Cafe Capriccio, Albany, NY): Tannic red fruit nose. Very tannic in the mouth with intense red fruit. As it warms and opens in the glass, it shows a more subtle nose of red fruit, licorice and tar. Oddly, it seems softer after trying the 2007, even though the 2007 seems clearly softer and less tannic after this. This is a truly classic Barbaresco, elegant with just the right amount of tannin and power. A great value at $40. I would put this down for 8-10 years.

The first vintage of this wine. Light purple with dark garnet tint (the typical Nebbiolo brick is missing). Nose of cherry, vanilla, and menthol. Medium palate of tart cherry, plum, spice, and minerals. Very good length. Bright, energetic acidity. Grippy young tannins. Structured to last. Nice, balanced Barbaresco.

This is the most "ready to drink" bottle I have opened. Finally settling into the drinking window. Lovely, feminine Barbaresco.

Why do I keep opening these? It is way too tight to drink without a LONG decant. Nothing to add to 12.2.11 and 7.6.12 notes.
