Very well balanced zin that is not too hot and has a great fruit/ tannin balance. Held up to Osso bucco very well which speaks to its acidity and food friendliness. Full body with pepper, cassis, deep dark cherries and some dirt. Ready to enjoy now, but can age another year or two.

Tasted at the winery in a food/wine pairing again all the new releases and this wine stood out from the entire release head and shoulders over their other reds, although the Meritage did have some med-term cellaring (very young and lot of tannins still). this wine was excellent with the pork tortellini's they served it with. I'd also say that while it is very good now, I can see where 2-3 years from now it will be MUCH better once it softens up a bit. Just a bit pricey for my taste... $50 for a Zin is very expensive IMHO.

It’s been cellared a long time and may have lost some of it’s boldness. Earthy, blackberry and cherry flavor and aroma.
