Rite of Spring at Chevalier Wines (Chicago, IL): There's a incredible amount of smoke on the nose and palate of this wine, coupled with a lot of sweetness and tons of brown spice. Kind of like a really sweet barbecue sauce? Moderately confected (but still showing candied red fruit), this is drinkable in small doses.

A medium garnet in the glass, a bit darker than normal for a Sonoma pinot noir, with dramatic, quick-forming legs. Stewed plums, dark cherry and baking spices on the nose. Quite broad on the palate, the youthful acidity now tempered with time, very good intensity and concentration is heightened with a pronounced minty/cedar-tinged finish. This was an excellent pairing for sauteed and oven-finished Atlantic salmon with a spicy tomato vinaigrette! Wish Greg all the best!

Beautiful Pinot. A real nice cherry/raspberry and earth on the nose. A touch hot at the start but boy, when it's aired out, what a great wine! great fresh and smooth mouthfeel.

(Bjornstad Pinot Noir Hellenthal Vineyard) Medium dark cherry red color with pale meniscus; reduction, tart cherry, floral nose; tight, ripe cherry, oak spice, ripe raspberry palate; needs 3 years; medium-plus finish
