  • Tasted next to the Valdespino Don Gonzalo. Huge difference between the two. Much fresher, more mineral, more nuanced than the Valdespino. Incredible freshness in the glass here, so much tension and length. This is fantastic once again. 18/20

  • Just opened another bottle of this today, still a bit tight needing some more days in the open bottle to reveal all of its nuances I think, but otherwise still happy with my last note. Gorgeous Oloroso, fantastic QPR. 18/20

  • Waves of freshness jump out of the glass here, mesmerizing, presenting aromas of dried figs, soy sauce and yeast with elegance and intensity. The minerality and pure freshness are evident here. Beautiful harmony on the palate, perfect amount of sweetness in my opinion, great concentration but just so breathtakingly fresh. Lasting finish, chalky, covering the palate. This is a gorgeous Oloroso. 18.5/20

  • WSET Level 4, Unit D5: Fortified Wines Part II - Sherry (Weinakademie Österreich, Rust, Austria): Wine 3: The wine has a medium amber colour. The nose has medium intensity and shows tertiary characteristics of wood polish, hazelnut, almond, and coffee beans.

On the palate the wine is dry, with medium(+) acidity, high alcohol, and medium(-) body. The flavour intensity is medium, flavours are again tertiary and include roasted almond, hazelnut, dried fig, and coffee. The wine tastes salty. The alcohol is lightly warming. The finish has medium(+) length.

This is a very good quality wine since it has very good concentration, medium complexity, and very good length. To be considered being of outstanding quality it would need greater complexity and even better length. The wine is ready to drink and will not improve with further time in bottle and is hence not suitable for further ageing in bottle.

  • Pleasant. Not at all intense on the nose. Nicely structured but does not have the depths of the great VORS olorosos. Would say it was comparable with Don Gonzalo? Good wine, but the price makes one think twice.
