Fully mature. Color is beginning to show signs of age, tannins are mostly resolved. Medium toward full-bodied, good underlying acidity. Thankfully the heavy-handed oak of prior bottles has all resolved, satisfactorily. Pretty at times; fruit lacks depth, persistence. 14,2% abv, drink over the next 2-3 years
Aerated to decanter 2 hours, served non-blind.

More earthy than I'm used to for a Merlot, but still had a lot of character. Blackcherry with hints of strawberry, and a long finish dominated by leathery tones. Went well with a rustic pizza.

Aerate 2 hours in decanter, returned to bottle, served 3 hours later. Consistent with the bottle of 12 months ago, this is just too bound up in (unnecessary) oak. Some pretty poor winemaking when the fruit isn't the lead actor of the play. What the hell is this aberration pretending to be? 14,2% abv

PnP, to be served 7 hours hence. Dark garnet, no transitions, no sign of age. The color alone suggests this is going to show young, and sure enough, the nose confirms that it's masked in oak. Some minutes in the glass, and this begins to show vanillin, peppercorn, red currant. New world, oaked and flashy, that's about all there is here right now. I have two more bottles that I will let rest 3-4 years, perhaps some fruit will join the party. Drink thru 2017, 14,2% abv, score: B/B+

Intense merlot. More like a aged cab.
