Definitely need some air to open up, but when it did firm wine with depths of flavor, smoke and berry, and slight push of acidity. No need to rush to open this and I wish I had more on hand.

This is an excellent wine - pricey, but worth it for special occasions. While it was very good open first opening, at that point, I thought the Syrah dominated. After an hour, it was totally balanced. A wonderful wine with a lot of complexity (dark and lush) and a long finish.

(J Bookwalter Winery Protagonist Red Wine Columbia Valley) French oak aromas leap from the glass with toast and spice followed by waves of cherry, smoke, and licorice on a wine that immediately demands attention. Rich and intense on the palate with winding fruit flavors. Capped off by a long finish. 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Syrah. Conner Lee and Elephant Mountain vineyards. Aged 20 months in French oak. 15.2% alcohol. 146 cases produced.

Drinking beautifully right now. Still quite big. Balanced.

Faded. Still well balanced and drinkable but the fruit is faded into the background and no real structure or energy
left.

Tasted at winery - darkest wine of the day. Black roast, skunk nose, expresso, unsweetened, short finish
