  • Nice start on the nose but falls after that. Sharp and a bit acidic on first taste, decent on mid and late palate. But leaves a little bitterness on finish. Disappointing, I was expecting better. Maybe this one was defective in some way.

  • More structure than the other in the bunch. Resolving nicely. Richard says sweeter and more tannin.

  • DAY 2. nose showing rather lean bordeaux. iron and smoke. a rather dense color. not opaque, but really far along for pinot. nose shows a creamy ML note right up front. palate is very dense. medium bodied. oak is showing boldly on the palate, but in tune with richness of fruit. nose is not too fruity. palate follows with an almost candied black cherry fruit. i want some winemaking info on this wine.
    Aptos is a town in SCM. in a state park, 1/3 mile from the ocean. dark aspect to this wine from cluster the size of golf balls and berries the size of beebees. xtreme cool climate. 1/3 new oak. marginal vineyard. '09 was declassified into the Santa Cruz County Cuvee.
