Auction Napa Valley Celebration in Chicago (L2O - Chicago IL): Interesting wine with a good, subdued character that I enjoyed. Cross-section of apple aromas and flavors, both sweet and tart. Good textures, good energy. Some power on finish. 60% new oak, with only 40% of the barrels completing malolactic fermentation, which required inoculated yeast.

We drank this wine over the course of 1.5 hours and witnessed an interesting evolution. Poured straight from the fridge - buttery overtones dominated the glass with some green apple. As the wine warmed and more air was introduced, flavors of pear came to the forefront and the buttery flavor became more subdued. The wine's acidity became more prominent as well. We enjoyed this wine with crab cakes and grilled cheese sandwiches made with Gruyere cheese and green apple slices on French bread.

This is a well-made Chardonnay - not overly oaked but treated with enough to provide a rich, creamy mouthfeel. The apple and pear notes are well presented on the nose and the finish is long and lingers nicely on the palette.

90-92, scored a little low because I want to re-visit. Very rich and well-balanced wine. The fruit and acidity are prominent up front, but the oak brings up the rear and offers a very long, pleasant finish. Well done, although probably will benefit from a year of aging.

OK, some bitterness and a little syrupy.
