  Tasted with six other Cabernet Franc based wines including Chateau Ausone, a nice Chinon, Paradigm Napa, Lang and Reed 2009, and Hiddencroft of Northern Virginia. The Afton came in last, was distinctly more vegetal but I agree more with the Virginia Governor's Cup judges that gave it a Silver than my colleagues who thought it was "flawed". Aromas of herbs and Chinon type character, dry and not fully ripe on the palate, medium short finish. Lots of character, if not for everyone, but not technically off due to VA or brett or poor cellar/bottling hygiene. Paired well with an Indian lamb stew, Aloo Ghosh.
