  • Definitely needs air time to come together. Violet purple color to the rim, medium body and length, I didn't detect any significant PS flavor profile. Slight residual sugar was evident intermittently. Served at Ron's for Thanksgiving dinner.

  • Deep purple colored with some slight rim variation showing a bluish hue. Fast moving legs show off the 13.5% ABV. The nose has medium intensity aromas of blackberry, chocolate powder and charred oak. Perfume and some floral notes add to the layers of flavor. The palate is dry with medium (-) acidity and medium tannins. It's very smooth without too much structure to detract from the flavors of blueberry, blackberry, chocolate and charcoal. Medium bodied it has a short finish that I am enjoying. It's rather simple but very easily quaffable- this $21 bottle gets 87 points from me and 3 stars. Drink soon with rich stews and winter dishes.

  • This wine is better if it's decanted for an hour or two. It need time for the sharpness to fade and allow you to taste all of it's subtle flavors.

  • Coopers Hawk makes some decent drink now wines. We did a tasting and found this to be one of our favorites at CH. Deep purple/red in color, typical to a PS. Body is surprisingly good for a <$20 wine but in the Coopers Hawk style, these wines are made for drinking and not aging. Pronounced plumb but also some good slate/mineral and slightly tanic on the finish. On the back of the palate it becomes a bit rusty and this is where the lower cost of the wine finally shows itself. We did not have this with any food, which was probably a mistake. This one was bottled 12/2011. Good price/value.
