Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • Ruby, chestnut, golden-brown colour. The nose is rich with toffee, burnt caramel, butterscotch, candied orange peel with a whiff of alcohol. The palate, much drier, though with enough viscous sweetness to counter the racy finish. Smokey, creamy and slightly bitter finish, but it's the rich flavours that linger. The alcohol does stick out like a sore thumb, but for a wine that's 150 years old, it is easily forgiven and forgotten ****
