  • Like many, occasionally I get sucked in to some huckster's pitch ("a $50 value for only $19.99, a WS score of 92 for only $15.88," etc etc ) and I am somewhat embarrassed to say this was one of them. Grrr. And of course I had to buy a couple bottles! So the first one had a slight fizz to it when first opened a year or so ago and was a bit cloudy, but for $9.95 I can put up with a lot so I managed to enjoy the bottle but decided to wait a bit for this hidden gem to settle down before trying the next (and thankfully last) one.

No clouds or fizz in this baby. Not much taste left either. Reminded me of wet cardboard and cali-noir (to answer the question before I have to read about it in the comment section, yes I suck on wet cardboard all the time, don't you?).

    What a waste of $19.90

  • - Ruby color and has flavours of cherry and apple with a light body. Polished texture with a short finish.

  • Not great, especially when put up against Weber's 2008 Orchid Hill that I had two nights ago, which was a total knockout. This Russell Family vineyard pinot showed sour apple on the front end, which overwhelmed the profile so that little else came through. This tastes like a sub $10 pinot, while the Orchid Hill tasted like a $30 pinot, but I paid $10 for each of them. I would avoid this.

  • Surprisingly nice for the price. Very cloudy, nice red fruit, good mouthfeel.
