My third bottle in the past year, with one of the first two being outstanding and the other mediocre. Fortunately, this bottle mirrored my first experience and was excellent. Burst with red berry fruit on the nose, showing pretty raspberry, cherry and red plum flavors on the palate, with a smooth, long finish. Toes the line between New and Old World, with the approachability and vigor of CA cab, and the freshness and charm of BDX.

This wine was a reload purchase from the same auction house, and thus, I suspect same source, but this particular bottle was not nearly as impressive as my first bottle from last December. The fill was into the neck and the cork in excellent shape, and while the label was wine-soaked, there were no signs of seepage. Still a pleasant wine, but a bit more tired. In fairness, this has only rested for ~2 weeks after a cross-country ground shipment, so it could also be travel shock.

It was a timely coincidence that I decided to open this today because there just happened to be another lot of the same wine closing at auction tonight. I was so impressed with this bottle that I decided to reload. Seductive, sweet cherry/raspberry aromas upon opening. Has a very Graves-like red berry profile, reminding me a bit of a DDC or Haut Bailly. A hint of eucalyptus adds to the intrigue. There is not much in the way of either acids or tannins at this point, but it is a very pretty wine, and drinking quite well now.
