All of the grace and elegance that you would expect from Chassagne 1er Cru Champs Gain. Agreed with the tasters that it lacked the brightness, nevertheless stunning example of terror and vintage. Ripe year all of the way. Beguiling nose. Orchard fruit!

Dinner with Maggie Harrison (Formentos - Chicago, IL): Starting to show some age with maturing white fruit and acidity that is starting to fade. Good but lacking a little edge that I'd prefer. Plenty of mineral Champgain character. The 2010 tasted side-by-side had more life and balance.

Burgundy Wimps — Le Bout du Monde (La Trompette, London): Full straw. Teetering on the edge with aldehydic aromas. Drink up. Ripe, and there is an element of vintage rather than pure pox, this is ok, good even with food, but remains a touch aldehydes on the nose and a bit of a lottery. (*)***

Burg Trip Reunion Dinner (Oak Brook, IL): Peach and apple with spice hints. clearly very ripe, but enough acidity and minerality to easily remain balanced. Good+ now, but i preferred the 2010 vintage tasted just before.

Dinner with Maggie Harrison (Antica Terra / Lillian), Drinking her Great Wine + Great French Wine (Formento's - Chicago IL): Lots of stone and orchard fruit, maturing gracefully with moderate structure. Still drinking well, but this was better a few years back.
