  • Popped and poured. Sharp aromas of red fruit and green leaves. Clean, pure flavors of earth and berry fruit up front. Cherry flavors dominate the full finish. Austere at first, but opens up quickly.

Beautifully anti-hedonist, this is drinking well right now, and should continue to do so for a while.

  • Looking through my cellar I realized I had three of these left, rather than two, so I opened one. This bottle was somewhat tart, definitely lean. However, the fruit has not budged since the last bottle three years ago. Still fresh and crunchy with no sign of age whatsoever. You feel like this would be exactly the same in a decade. I'll revisit the other half of the bottle tonight and see if it fleshed out at all, but if nothing else I'm curious to see where this goes over time. Bodes well for somewhat fleshier vintages of this wine, and I should have '09-10 remaining, and lots of '14-'15 as well as Deux Monts from each of these vintages.

This actually improved on night two, and I'm not the type who typically finds wines improve after being open overnight. The fruit was still fresh and crunchy, but the prominent acidity softened a bit. Good stuff with no rush to drink.

  • This is in a great place right now. Probably at peak, but could hold indefinitely, as there are no signs of decline.

  • Still kicking, but I'd drink up at this point. So easy to drink, this is superbly refreshing. Tart blackberry and a hint of cigar ash if you look for it.
