Roagna Exploration Tastings (Morrell Wine Bar & Cafe): The ’95 showed a beautifully mature bouquet with dried flowers, stone dust and minerals up front, followed by crushed black cherry. On the palate, I found soft textures with fleshy black cherry made even juicier by vibrant acids as the expression evolved to show inner floral tones. It was shorter than I hoped on the finish, yet thoroughly enjoyable all the same as lingering hints of grippy tannin balanced against dried cherry and mineral tones. This was perfectly matured and there’s no need to wait, but in the same token I don’t believe we need to worry about it declining anytime soon either.

Black fruit, leather, and a pinch of olive. Quite smooth for Barolo, suggesting the bottle age has allowed the wine to reach its window. Very enjoyable, though not a standout at a tasting of 10 aged Barolos.

This is the late bottled version after 10 years in botti and only recently released. Huge depth and colour. Explosion of tar and black fruit on nose but real frgrance behind. Immense but restrained power with damson fruit and leather picked up by the very firm structure. Will last but a treat to drink now.

Clear light red. Great fragrance and power, classic. Grew and grew with time in glass. Great complexity with a very long finish. Excellent wine

Similar to 2012 bottle see those notes. Phenomenal QP.
