(BARBARESCO Cantina del Pino 150th ANNIV) Please note: we are experimenting with several new email servers this week – you may notice random changes in fonts or formats this week but everything is the same – simply reply to Nicki as normal. Thank you - Garagiste ********************** Anniversary Special Dear Friends, I'm not sure if this is the Barbaresco deal of the year, but it has to be right up there. Instead of a flowery tale of mystery or “other”, I will simply cut to the chase - Renato Vacca is the dynamic owner/one-man think-tank at Cantina del Pino with a résumé that continues to acquire accolades from his peers and from around the globe. His wine routinely surpasses his more famous neighbors and it typically trades for a lower tariff. At this point, he has become one of the most respected grower/winemakers in the area and he’s just getting started. In 2007, he had an abundance of top material to work with and he took full advantage. His “regular” Barbaresco is terrific and this special reserve-level bottling for Italy’s 150th anniversary is arguably his best effort in the vintage. A blend of Ovello, Albesani, Starderi, and Gallina vinified in large, traditional Slavonian casks (versus the French oak of the regular), this is Renato’s homage to his ancestry given a deeply pitched spin from a progressive (but delicate) hand. If you are a fan of Cantina del Pino, this limited production wine is sure to make a lasting impression on your palate for years to come. It is the only time he’s produced this wine - only a few hundred cases as his ultimate expression of the vintage. There’s no review yet for the wine (it wasn't bottled until a month ago) This parcel is directly from the cellar at Cantina del Pino with perfect provenance. ONE SHIPMENT ONLY for the U.S. FIRST COME FIRST SERVED up to 12/person until we run out (we cannot offer more than one case/person at this price): 2007 Cantina del Pino “150th Anniversary” Barbaresco (reserve/DOCG) - (compare at $50-65+; the regular Barbaresco trades for $30-40) To order: niki@garagistewine.com This parcel is set to depart from Alba – it will arrive in April (please check OARS for local pick up after April 15th).
