Drinking this over a 5 day period with diverse other wines, we consistently came back to this 10 year old wine as one of the most enjoyable, both by itself and with food. Opaque colored with an inch pour, nice concentration, delicious fruit flavors, soothing texture, and a superb balance of acid and tannin.

75% grenache, 25% syrah. Purple in color, with moderately strong aromas of black raspberry, anise, cherry, dried fruit, spice, and a hint of floral. Shows the grenache on the taste from the fruit, and some of the body of the syrah. Tannins are present but not overpowering. However, this did not pair well at all with black bean stuffed red peppers, as the mild Mexican spices exacerbated the tannins in a negative manner. Firm and focused on the long finish, but without much complexity. Overall a solid wine which is drinking well now, and may improve in a bit.

A dinner with Michel Tardieu (Palm restaurant, London): A southern Rhone blend of 75% Grenache and 25% Syrah. The nose is red fruits once again (cherries) with spices and white pepper showing the Syrah. Full bodied with noticeably more tannins than the prvious wines in the line-up. Michel said that this will drink very well for the next 10-12 years.
