  • Charming nose of black cherries, earth and violets.
Quite austere on the palate, elegant and mineral with quite drying tannins. Long. No sense of over-ripeness I sometimes find in this vintage.
Excellent if lacking a little bit in complexity.

  • Appearance: Bright and clear, the wine is of light ruby colour, with fading garnet rims and legs.
Nose: Clean, with medium (+) intensity aromas of red fruit of cherries, strawberry and raspberry, floral notes of violet, mineral notes of earth, pungent spice of licorice, oak notes of toast, maturity notes of wet leaves. The wine is developing.
Palate: Dry with medium acidity, the wine has medium (+) tannin of ripe and meaty texture, medium alcohol, medium body and medium intensity flavours of red fruit of cherries and raspberry, floral notes of violet, oak notes of toast, mineral notes of earth. The wine has a medium finish.
Conclusion: Good quality Corton with a nice intense nose showing decent complexity, with the typical red fruit of cherry and raspberry, violet, earthy and spicy elements. The wine has a good balance and well-defined structure, having good meaty tannin and nice concentration and a fair length on the finish. It is ready to drink now but can benefit from further ageing of another 3-5 years.

  • Started out a bit funky but settled down once Maureen arrived, to dinner of summer vegetables soup provençale grilled baby backs and clafoutis.

  • No sweetness left. Dry strawberry essence, but little fruit. Mouth drying tannins. Is it thin? No. It's weird, in no getting much flavor profile out of this wine at all. Does have a long finish. Hold tight. Perhaps it was just too cold. I did leave it out on the step for 20 mins in 5 degrees. There is some gaminess. Don't touch the other bottles Steve!!

  • Zachys Mixed Tating 10/18/14: A more solid, denser mouthfeel than '10 wines. Dark cherries. The fruit is perhaps a little leaner but better knit at this point. Perhaps just a function of aging.
