  • This needs lots of air and/or lots of time. Like decades. Also a screwdriver to extract the bottle from its wood and plexiglass coffin. This was opened 3 nights ago when I poured a single glass. Had another glass on day 2, and now on day 4, decanted and finished over 3+ hours. It has hardly budged, but the oak and tannins have finally softened a bit. Exotic nose loaded with violets, blackberries, cloves and coffee. Tight and ungiving for the first three days, but the last glass is just beginning to show glimpses of the potential here. The warmest of Diamond Creek's vineyards, I'm not sure how "microclimate 2" measures against this backdrop, but this has a Graves-like profile, with cranberry, gravel and tart cherry flavors. I think this will evolve at a glacial pace, and will try to hold my remaining bottles for another 10-20 years.

  • An amazing wine!!! Purchased from the winery. Pristine condition. Upon opening one thinks they are smelling French Boureaux. Haut-Brion and Margaux came to mind immediately. Damp forest floor, earth, mushroom, and subtle fruit. Decanted 5 and a half hours and it became gorgeous. It has full dark fruit, light even tannins. Wonderful mid palate of volcanic ash, allspice, blackberries and a bit of plums. Extremely long finish. Still VERY young. I'm looking forward to another 20 years with this wine.

  • Very tight. Decanted for two hours and could have used more. Balanced, but a bit acidic and not much fruit. Nose was good.
