  I liked this at the winery and really wanted to like it now... A light straw gold color. Aromas of stone fruit, slate, and honey, with hints of floral. Pleasant and vibrant fruit on the palate with similar rocky and honey notes as those on the bouquet. The rock and honey notes build through the finish, and combine with an astringency that grows as you drink it. By midway through the glass, it's drinking a little hot and astringent on the finish, losing the nice fruit, floral, and mineral notes that it shows early. It finishes with a medium length slightly bitter spice note. I love this producer, and the wine does have charm, but ultimately I was a little disappointed.

  Hmmm, a bit hot with some RS, not totally off-putting per se but another example of how hard it is to do viognier outside of Condrieu

  This Viognier is from one of my favorite Sonoma wine makers. Their wines are unique and specialized, with a flair for Zinfandel and Pinot Noir they also do some Rhone varietals. The wine is a pale yellow, bright and fresh. The nose shows pear, tropical fruits, and a slight herbal undertone. The tasting shows a restrained fruit with some nice acid on the finish. 87 not my favorite.
