  • Pale garnet, brick rim. The nose is mature enough, obviously oaky - toasted dill crisps, coffee, sweet spice, butterscotch. The fruit has nice pinosity, kind of strawberry/red cherry, with a hint of rowanberries and bitter herbs. Burgundy-style decayed & dry leaves adds a very nice touch to the aroma spectrum. Dry and fairly light-bodied, with good fruit concentration, fresh acidity, a kick of bitterness on the long finish. An outstanding GG, that would have been even better with less new and toasted oak. The '08 vintage was a really good one in the Ahr valley, but this wine probably shouldn't be kept much longer.
