Much better than the last. This one was still fresh. Some tropical notes on the nose (faint lychee), and not overtly grassy like many sauv blancs. Good stuff.

The last of a case lot, purchased Apr-2011, that has served as my standard for what Cali Sauv Blanc can achieve when really given serious attention. More of a light gold hue now. Bouquet is more subdued but more complex. Palate has the weight and elegance of top notch Bordeaux Blanc and ample tang and fruitiness to have lasted into this 5th year in bottle. I think I hit this at the perfect apex to finish off, so if you got 'em, smoke 'em. 5+12+18+7= 92

Notes after following for 2 days open. I expected a darker hue at this point but the color is still light straw with quick legs on the glass. Bouquet has certainly tempered down but gives the same luscious, citrus & white flower-driven profile with perhaps a secondary note of honeycomb. Palate has also dialed back just a little. Still being supported by a good acidic charge, the fruit is more resinous and tropical than two years ago. The finish reveals said fuji apple, kiwi, grapefruit, and pineapple but I do remember this having a much longer stretch in earlier tastings. Drink through 2015 but not much longer. 5+12+17+7 = 91
