  • On its own this is quite good: refreshing, some nice, gentle acidity, some gentle floral notes and a touch of lemon to it. Quite a classic Chablis.
However it didn't come close to standing up to a light roast chicken: it seemed a little dull, thin and lacking acidity.
It worked considerably better with some brie though, showing more lemon particularly on the finish.
But all of the above is pretty typical of an 09 village Chablis, so it's exactly what you would expect and what you paid for. Good aperitif or a drinking wine and pretty decent value.
... Amazingly, this was still drinkable (just about) 4 days later - stored in fridge half full as is.

  • Very good but I preferred the Wine Society's Exhibition Tasmanian Chardonnay, against which I compared this.
This is a v good Chablis though, but clearly village quality and lacking the stoney minerality and freshness of cru class chablis. The Tasmanian tasted much, much fresher, more lemon, fruitier, a teeny bit more minerality and much high in acidity, perhaps giving it an ageing edge and certainly more of a food wine, although this Society chablis also needs food too.
